Saalbach is looking forward to a festival of ski sports

The closing of the World Ski Championships in Courchevel/Méribel was also the starting signal for the 48th Alpine World Ski Championships Saalbach 2025.

34 years after the unforgettable sunny World Championships in 1991, another atmospheric winter fairy tale will be written in the world-famous Salzburg ski resort from 4 to 16 February 2025. The symbolic handover of the FIS flag to the OC team for the 2025 World Championships was the crowning glory for the Saalbach delegation at the international title competitions in Courchevel/Méribel, France.

"We experienced a great event. The spark has already been lit and the anticipation of experiencing a World Ski Championships in Saalbach again is huge. We will do everything we can to make these World Championships a true celebration of alpine skiing, which will also inspire young people for this wonderful sport in the long term," said ÖSV President Roswitha Stadlober, who received the FIS flag in France together with Mayor Alois Hasenauer, Peter Mitterer (BB Hinterglemm) and Bartl Gensbichler (Ski Club).

In order to be able to present themselves as the perfect host in two years' time, preparations are already in full swing in one of the largest and most innovative tourism destinations in the Alps. The focus continues to be on the concept of "one mountain - all competitions". All races will be held on the Zwölferkogel in Hinterglemm, which unites all World Championships slopes with only one finish area for all disciplines. The FIS Alpine World Ski Championships 2025 are not only intended to be a world championship of short distances for the ski stars and fans from all over the world. The home World Championships in Saalbach will also set new standards in terms of future-proof infrastructure and sustainability when it comes to staging a major sporting event.
