Fascination Trail Run 3/3

Part 3: Talschluss Insider Tip

The third and last part of this trail running triology takes you far into the Glemmtal. Here at the end of the valley, the beautiful basin between Schuster, Gamshag, Tristkogel and Staffkogel, I present a somewhat shorter but no less interesting round.

The Talschluss is a real gem and a partially tranquil place. The trail runner in us loves this element too, the tranquillity of a natural environment. However, you can also create your own atmosphere with a choice of music from your favourite playlist to round off the day. The best way to reach the Talschluss is with public transport, the lucky JOKER CARD holder naturally travels free of charge.

Starting at the large open-air carpark in the Lengau district, take the path on the right in the direction of the Lindlingalm. You will briskly pass grazing cows, and hikers as the route leads you towards the Henlab-Graben (bridge) into the woodlands. Now it’s time to head up the mountain. A narrow trail on a spruce needle covered forest floor – silence. Only a couple of metres after the well-used forest paths, happy hormones are released. The trail continues along a steep section partially with steps up to the Forsthofalm. There are one or two selfie hotspots along the way, before reaching the Alpine pastures where the Forsthofalm welcomes guests. Catch your breath and inhale the fresh mountain air.

Behind the Forsthofalm the trail continues towards the Osmannalm. A great stretch to run on, with cool streams and valley views included. Once you have passed the Ossmannalm, enjoy the downhill trail to the Saalalm and perhaps visit the Wanderlehrpfad. The terrain of the educational path is alternating. Continue to the Lindlingalm and the large high ropes park. It is best to take the forest path on the left-hand side, which is visible from this point back down to the valley. Caution is needed for the next stretch of running, as a permanent grin on the face may contribute to mild pain.
